We've certainly got the bug for some rambling this spring. Here we are again for another little outing. I normally get this enthusiasm once the weather starts to pick up and become more tolerable for the little man.
We're back in the peak district this weekend on some fresh legs and with a half decent weather forecast. We're also coming in with a very organised kit list packed the night before also. I decided to check out Three Shires Head again now Rosko is a little bit older. Its a beautiful place to sit and relax at. I wish he was a little bit older so we can have a dip in the fresh water but i suppose our time will come soon enough.
So here we go, landing at Flash very early in the morning, we round up the child and the food and start off. Heading downhill for the first couple of kilometres but this did make me worried a little bit, I hope this isn't a re-run of the hard time I had at Stannage, leaving all of the elevation gain to the end of the day!

We had a lovely 30 mins wondering through some public footpaths meandering down through some meadows and small rolling hills until we reached the gorge leading upto three shires head.

As the name suggests, Three Shires Head lies at the junction of three counties; Derbyshire, Cheshire and Staffordshire. It was once an important crossing point over the River Dane for trains of packhorses. And a place where the horses could be rested and watered.
It also had a reputation for lawlessness, with thieves and brigands able to evade capture by simply stepping over a county boundary. Today it’s a popular spot during summer holidays and weekends for families to enjoy picnics and let their children play safely in the shallow pools.
We stopped to have lunch and were met by some off-road motor bikes which Rory took a shine to, he managed to bag a sit on one!

Following our little exploration of the area we headed for a detour back to the car and trying to get in a more rounded route. Similar to the walk in, we weaved inbetween rolling hills East of the three shires until we popped back up into flash. A cracking day.
