Bit of a different start to this Hike. This weekend we are out in the caravan adventuring around the river wye! Last year (our first year owning the caravan) we was out often with little Rosko in the caravan however this second year we've found less time with Sam going back to work. However, when we do get away, we tend to cram in as much as possible in the time we have.

The wye valley was a place I wanted to visit, I heard that the areas was extremely picturesque and from what we had seen in the days leading up to this hike I whole heartedly agreed! We set aside a good day to go for a hike, I plotted a nearby route with just a little bit of elevation and mainly a lovely stroll along the river wye.

We started out late on a very drizzly day after having a look around Goodrich castle. We had a serious leg pumping walk up through the houses at the base of the hill. All short lived however as we soon met the switch back to get up to the trig point and took a few photos while the little man was nodding off.

A smiling couple poses outdoors with greenery and hills behind. A child sleeps in a carrier on the man's back. Cloudy sky above.

We started descending down the opposite side of the hill and i felt like the area became really whimsical looking, we descended down into a valley next to the river wye. a lovely desolate place. we sat down and had some sandwiches next to the river and took our time. There's nothing more I like, being in the middle of nowhere, near nobody, with the family.

Forest scene with fallen branches, mossy logs, and vibrant green foliage. Blue wildflowers scattered on the forest floor create a serene mood.

Green meadow by a calm river with a tree-lined hill in the background. Overcast sky creates a serene and tranquil atmosphere.

Our solace was soon interrupted by some unexpected visitors. over to the west we started admiring a heard of cows walking our way which was fun to wat. Until we realised, they were close.... and in numbers. In fact. I don't think I know of a time where there's been so many cows in one please. What also made me worried was that they all had horns and a lot of them had calfs. Now, usually, I wouldn't be that concerned about walking through this field however I felt very vulnerably with having Rosko on my back and also with having Sam next to me who always seems petrified when being faced with cows. We slowly but confidently walked through the centre of the heard being the quickest route through and before long we got out of the cow zone unscathed!

Cows grazing on a lush green field by a river, with a forested hill in the background under a cloudy sky. Peaceful rural scene.

After this point we had a good hour of just meandering by the riverside and nearby farmers fields until we got back to the car. we quickly darted back to Ross-On-Wye for pizza and beer!

RVs and cars are parked on grassy land beside a river, with a backdrop of dense green forest and rolling hills. It's a serene spring day.

Today wasn't about smashing any records as such. More about spending some time with loved ones. After all, the main reason why we hike is to touch base, this trip definatley ticked that box.
